Better Meats Farms is a family owned and operated business for the past 5 years producing quality 100% grass-fed beef in Missouri. Better Meats operates on the principle that we need to protect our environment in order to raise healthy cows and ultimately produce nutritious meat. Through our research and experience, we have utilize techniques that allow us to raise tender beef that is full of flavor year round while optimizing the health of our soil. We do this by grazing our beeves until they are full grown, never feeding grain or growth hormones. Better Meats understands the harmful effect of fertilizers, poisons and pesticides on people, animals and the soil; hence, uses rotational grazing. This also allows us to eliminate the use of antibiotics as well as wormer from all our beef cattle. In addition, by carefully managing the pastures, Better Meats can year-round graze which is healthiest for cattle and pasture alike. We sell our beef in quarters, halves, and wholes. We also sell 100% grass-fed ground beef throughout the year. Our veal is only available in the spring. Better Meats has grass-fed quarters for sale. A quarter of beef will yield around 95 lbs of beef and cost approximately $640. We sell our beef finished weight which makes it an easy comparison to grocery store prices. The cost is $4.56per pound of beef (hanging wt. 2016). This price includes butchering costs & free delivery to a St. Louis drop. You can expect about 25% to be grass-fed steaks, 18% roasts and about 50% hambuger. The rest is brisket, short ribs, & stew meat. Buying your grass-fed beef in quarters is quite a savings compared to buying individual cuts. We estimate our beef prices is comparable to the grocery store prices.
